Ronquières: BORFLEX® and ERIKS handle 12 tonnes on a challenging construction site

The collaborative project between BORFLEX and ERIKS is characterised by the management of a complex industrial site requiring multi-faceted technical expertise. Faced with extremely tight deadlines and major logistical challenges, notably the transport of 12 tonnes of equipment over difficult terrain, BORFLEX was selected for its ability to integrate the entire value chain: from extrusion and moulding to final on-site installation. BORFLEX’s commitment was demonstrated through the development of bespoke solutions, such as a press adapted to the site and specialised transport trolleys, ensuring an exemplary finish and operational continuity thanks to dedicated teams.

The Gotthard Tunnel: ten years in service without a replacement

In the Gotthard Base Tunnel, the elastomeric components are subjected to some of the most demanding vibration and load conditions in the world. Ten years after their installation, the 212,000 BORFLEX track pads deployed across 57 km of ballastless track are still in place without having been replaced, despite traffic of up to 325 trains a day and a maximum depth of 2,300 m beneath the Alps.

Refurbishment of the leading edges of the Jaguar A 157 using EPDM

On a vintage fighter aircraft, the lack of original parts is holding up restoration work and threatening the heritage value of an irreplaceable example. BORFLEX supplied the 1mm EPDM strips required to refurbish the leading edges of the Jaguar A 157, drawing on its expertise in rubber sealing, moulding and extrusion to fulfil a one-off, non-catalogue order.

RUBBY: the decking replacing timber at the station, the case of Saint-Denis – Stade de France

At busy stations, wooden decking deteriorates within 7 to 8 years, necessitating costly replacements and posing a risk of slipping and electric arcing near the catenary wires. BORFLEX has designed RUBBY, a complete decking system (joists and battens) made from composite materials and rubber – including recycled rubber sourced via VALUE RUBBER – which has been installed over an area of 1,800 m² at Saint-Denis station – Stade de France in 2024

Montbovon Dam: watertightness restored in three weeks

In the case of a maintenance shutdown at the Montbovon Dam hydroelectric power station (Switzerland), each week of downtime represents a direct loss of electricity generation for the operator. BORFLEX manufactured and installed on site a bespoke profile, enabling the hydraulic unit to be restarted in less than three weeks, including manufacturing, delivery and installation.

Unobtainable seal for a classic car: a bespoke solution

A bodywork seal that is no longer listed in the catalogue brings the restoration to a standstill: the vehicle cannot be reassembled, cannot be driven and cannot be resold. BORFLEX reconstructs the exact profile from the worn part or the drawings, formulates the appropriate elastomer and produces the seal as a single unit or in small batches, where the standard industry requires minimum order quantities that are incompatible with this need.

Thermal break, design flexibility and ease of installation on façades

On secondary façade frames and joinery, BORGLASS® composite profiles eliminate the thermal bridges that metal frames allow, whilst offering complete aesthetic customisation (wood or stone effect, logos, paint) and a weight up to four times lighter than steel, which simplifies installation at height, lightens existing structures and reduces the manpower and equipment required for handling on site.
