CUstom rubber and elastomer parts

BORFLEX® has been formulating and manufacturing your custom elastomer parts in France for 65 years: moulding, extrusion, coating, lining and cutting. The group formulates over 3,000 exclusive compounds itself – including natural rubber, silicone, EPDM, nitrile and polyurethane – to meet your requirements for sealing, shock absorption or thermal resistance, from single parts to large-scale production runs.

R&D into elastomeric materials, in-house
laboratory

A strong R&D policy to maintain our leadership in innovation, supported by an in-house laboratory: qualified engineers, simulation tools, and material and strength testing for every project.

  • Development of new solutions and innovative prototypes, from the rubber compounding to the finished part.
  • Production and simulation of materials to ensure that tests accurately reflect real-world conditions.
  • In-house laboratory analyses of material properties and strength calculations, carried out on both BORFLEX® materials and customers’ materials.
  • Monitoring changes in prototyping materials to replicate mass production conditions as closely as possible.
  • Ongoing technical monitoring to anticipate market trends.

Co-design of complex technical components:
Selection of hardness and elastomer, design of moulding or extrusion tooling. A single technical point of contact, from the specifications to the finished component.

Over 3,000 elastomer compounds formulated in-house

Formulation is an integral part of our expertise: rubbers, fillers, plasticisers and vulcanising agents are carefully measured to achieve the mechanical, chemical and thermal properties required by your specifications. Formulation, mixing, processing and quality control are all managed in-house. This vertical integration guarantees that your parts can be reproduced identically, even several years later.

  • High-performance compounds:
resistance to extreme temperatures (silicones, Viton®).
  • Specialised compounds:
resistance to hydrocarbons (nitrile), acids and alkalis (EPDM), electrical insulation, or solutions designed specifically for the medical, food and drink, and railway sectors.

Moulding, extrusion, coating, filling, cutting:
which process is best for which part?

In addition to the formulation, BORFLEX® manufactures your rubber components using
a range of industrial processes, selected according to the component’s
geometry, production run and function, with quality control carried out at every stage.

Rubber moulding
moulding

Compression, injection or transfer moulding. High-pressure vulcanised compound in a heated mould: complex shapes, tight tolerances, overmoulding of metal inserts, high production rates.

extrusion

Extruded through a die, vulcanised continuously (UHF, salt bath) or vulcanised in an autoclave. Long lengths, constant cross-sections; inflatable or reinforced joints are possible.

cylinder lining

Application of elastomer or polyurethane to a metal roller body, followed by grinding. Controlled hardness from Shore A to Shore D.

Fabric coating

Elastomer applied by doctor blade onto a textile substrate (cotton, polyester, polyamide, glass fabric, aramid fibres such as Kevlar® / Twaron® / Nomex®), on one or both sides, as a single or multi-layer coating. Thicknesses from 0.17 to 1 mm, weights from 150 to 1,000 g/m², widths up to 1.60 m.

Waterjet and digital cutting

Waterjet cutting and digital cutting, flat-bed cutting of rubber sheets. No tooling costs, rapid prototyping, extreme precision.

Machining and finishing

Bespoke finishes and rubber-to-metal overmoulding: a single point of contact for your metal-elastomer composite parts, from prototypes to large-scale production runs
