Over 200 types of fibreglass composite profiles in stock or available on request, manufactured entirely in France, to meet the challenges faced by the most demanding industries: corrosion, weight, durability, safety and customisation.
1. Complete control of the production process, from raw materials to the finished profile
What sets BORFLEX apart is its end-to-end control of its value chain. BORFLEX selects its glass fibres, formulates its resins and manufactures its profiles at its own facilities in France. This vertical integration guarantees:
- The consistency and reproducibility of mechanical properties
- The ability to develop specific product ranges (food, electrical, fire, chemical) using dedicated resin formulations
- Commercial responsiveness: modifying a product range, creating a bespoke product, adapting a colour or finish

2. The mechanical performance of BORGLASS® profiles: measured data
BORGLASS® pultruded profiles offer outstanding mechanical performance:
| Mechanical properties | Approximate value |
| Longitudinal flexural modulus | 25 GPa (EN 13706) |
| Tensile strength (longitudinal) | 200–400 MPa (ASTM D638) |
| Longitudinal compression module | 20 GPa (ASTM D695) |
| Impact resistance | 190 kJ/m² (ASTM D256) |
| Density | 1.80–1.90 g/cm³ |
| Water absorption | 0.2–0.4 per cent |
| Thermal conductivity coefficient | 0.3 W/m·K |
| Surface resistivity | 10¹² ohms — electrical insulator |
These figures are provided for guidance only and do not constitute a basis for liability on the part of BORFLEX Composites. They vary depending on the relevant BORGLASS® range. For any structurally critical application, please contact BORFLEX Composites for validation using the batch data.
3. Addressing market challenges: pultruded composites put to the test in the field

(a) Rail, defence, nuclear: sustainability
The rail, defence and nuclear sectors are subject to some of the most stringent regulatory requirements in the world. BORGLASS® 4000 Series profiles (fire-resistant) meet these specifications.
(b) Chemical, petrochemical and offshore industries: chemical resistance and corrosive environments
In harsh chemical environments (acids, alkalis, solvents, hydrocarbons) or marine environments (salt spray, intermittent immersion), BORGLASS® 5000 Series profiles (chemical resistance) are the obvious choice as a long-term replacement for metal structures:
- Zero corrosion in saline environments — ideally suited to offshore platforms, water treatment plants, quays and jetties
- Smooth, non-porous surface: easy to clean, hygienic
- Reduced weight, making maintenance work at height or in areas with restricted access easier
(c) Energy, wind power, solar power: lightness and electrical neutrality
Energy generation infrastructure, in particular wind farms (onshore and offshore) and solar power stations, requires maintenance equipment that is lightweight, non-conductive and able to withstand extreme outdoor conditions:
- Ladders, platforms and access walkways: up to 70 per cent lighter than aluminium, reducing technician fatigue and the risks involved in working at height
- Natural electrical insulation: no risk of short circuits or accidental electric shocks
- Resistance to UV radiation and seasonal thermal cycles without any deterioration in mechanical properties
(d) Agri-food and pharmaceutical industries: hygiene and regulatory compliance
Food and pharmaceutical production environments require stringent hygiene standards and intensive cleaning cycles using harsh cleaning agents:
- A smooth, non-porous surface that is easy to disinfect — without the risk of rust or limescale associated with metal structures
- Lightweight construction allowing for easy reconfiguration of layouts (technical furniture, supports, secondary frameworks)
- Greater durability than metal structures subjected to repeated exposure to cleaning products
(e) Construction, architecture and infrastructure: thermal breaks and design freedom
In the construction sector, BORGLASS® profiles provide practical solutions to the three major challenges of today: thermal performance, sustainability and aesthetics:
- Thermal bridging: a key advantage for secondary façade frames and joinery
- Design flexibility: option to apply a surface finish (wood-effect, stone-effect, logo integration), user-applied paint, wide range of colours
- Lightweight, making installation at height easier and reducing the load on existing structures
- Resistance to weathering, UV light and moisture without the need for additional protection
Finishing and machining: from standard profiles to turnkey solutions

In addition to supplying standard profiles from its catalogue, BORFLEX COMPOSITES offers a range of processing services to adapt each standard product to specific requirements:
Bespoke machining
- Cutting to length (straight cuts, angle cuts, mitre cuts)
- Drilling and milling
- Grooving and chamfering
- Machining of complex shapes
Finishing
- Application of a surface finish: decorative effects (wood, stone, metallic), incorporation of logos or signage
- Painting and the application of surface finishes
- Simple assembly: structural bonding, screw fixing, bolting – no welding or special equipment required
- Splicing and assembly of sub-assemblies
These services enable BORFLEX to supply sub-assemblies ready for installation, reducing the amount of further processing required by the customer and speeding up on-site installation times.
“Our customers do not need to invest in specific production lines to obtain a profile suited to their project. They choose a standard item from our catalogue, we provide the necessary finishing operations, and they receive a component ready for installation.”

100 per cent French production: BORFLEX’s commitment to industrial sovereignty
The entire production of BORGLASS® pultruded composite profiles takes place at the Villers-Saint-Paul site in the Hauts-de-France region. This location is not merely a secondary selling point: it lies at the heart of the BORFLEX Group’s industrial identity.
- Control of the production line: resin formulation, fibre selection, pultrusion, quality control — everything is carried out at a single integrated industrial site
- Commercial responsiveness: Development of bespoke solutions, emergency management — with no import delays
- Carbon footprint: local manufacturing and product sustainability (no maintenance required, long service life) significantly reduce the environmental impact over the product’s entire life cycle
The BORFLEX Group has over 375 employees and serves customers in more than 30 countries. Its composites division draws on 65 years’ expertise in engineering materials to ensure consistent quality and robust technical support.
