BORFLEX is taking part in the VALUE RUBBER project

21 April 2021

The European Commission has awarded funding to a research project submitted by five European organisations, including BORFLEX®.

The topic: ‘Recycling technology aimed at incorporating rubber from end-of-life tyres into production lines as a substitute for new rubber’.

The project officially began on 1 September and will run for two years.

The University of Cartagena, Synthélast (both Spanish organisations) and Dymotec will be responsible for building a pilot devulcanisation plant.

Borflex will be responsible for researching formulations incorporating devulcanised material, investigating the production of components, and identifying markets.

The Spanish technical centre CETEC is coordinating the project and providing its scientific and technical expertise.

We are counting on the Group’s expertise to make an effective contribution to the project; in the long term, we expect it to open up new sources of supply and new market opportunities.
