Bringing classic cars back to life, one seal at a time
There are one million classic cars on the road in France, representing a market estimated at 4 billion euros. Behind every successful restoration lies a multitude of technical details, and one of the most underestimated of these concerns bodywork seals. As original parts are no longer available – and these seals are specific to each model – they can bring entire restoration projects to a standstill. BORFLEX®, a French manufacturer of elastomers for over 65 years, has developed an industrial solution to this very real problem.
Why fillings are the missing link in dental treatment
Door seals, window surrounds, sliding guides, weatherstrips, roof seals or tailgate seals: these rubber parts are designed to fit a unique profile specific to each vehicle. Over time, the rubber hardens, cracks and loses its watertight seal. However, original manufacturer’s stocks are depleted, and generic equivalents do not match the required geometry or appearance. The result: water ingress, draughts, and a restoration that remains unfinished due to the lack of a part costing just a few tens of euros.

The BORFLEX® method: from a used sample to a seal ready for installation
Where standard catalogues leave off, BORFLEX® engineering begins. The principle: starting from reality.
- We can recreate the profile using your original joint – even if it is partially damaged – or from a dimensioned photograph or a drawing.
- The appropriate elastomer (EPDM, silicone, neoprene or TPE) is formulated to meet the required hardness, as well as resistance to UV light, ozone and temperature fluctuations.
- We produce in small batches, including cutting to length, chamfering and joining: a ready-to-deliver part, requiring no further workshop finishing.
Every formulation is archived. Two years later, a club taking on new members can recommend exactly the same blend – a decisive advantage for bulk remanufacturing.
Made in France, from blending to dimensional inspection
All production takes place at the group’s French sites. This in-house control, from the mixing stage right through to the finished seal, guarantees three essential things for a restorer: adherence to the vehicle’s historical authenticity, responsiveness to specific requests, and the ability to reproduce the product identically over time.
