3 initiatives by the BORFLEX® Group – (2-minute read)
With the rise of corporate sustainability in recent years, it can sometimes feel as though the topic is on everyone’s lips. And yet, when it comes to corporate social responsibility, far too few companies are setting a good example. That is why BORFLEX®, mindful of environmental issues, is implementing various initiatives to protect the environment.
In order to minimise our day-to-day environmental impact associated with the production of rubber and composites, a number of initiatives are already underway; here are three significant ones:
-1- Our first initiative is a voluntary effort by the BORFLEX® Group to collect and measure our carbon footprint by carrying out our Carbon Footprint® assessment.
The aim is to assess and identify the information that needs to be taken into account in order to improve.
-2- The Group also pays close attention to its industrial investments: our investment process incorporates the concept of ‘environmental impact’. We aim to improve our performance whilst reducing our energy consumption.
-3- Our involvement does not stop there, as we have been part of the VALUE RUBBER® project since its inception. This is a European project aimed at developing an innovative recycling technology for end-of-life tyres, a technology also known as ‘devulcoration’.
This therefore produces a fully devulcanised rubber, which is consequently reusable. Our R&D teams have been fully involved in this project. The results are now ready for commercial application, as we are able to offer this pioneering approach – key to the green economy of the future – to the entire market.
In addition to all these initiatives, we pay particular attention to the small details that can make a difference every day. Indeed, we are gradually replacing all our lighting with LED bulbs, as they are more energy-efficient, and most of our products are made from natural rubber.
Concerned about the damage caused to the environment, the BORFLEX® Group is therefore fully committed to improving its practices and will continue to develop these over time in order to be as environmentally friendly as possible.
