Nuclear elastomeric seal
ISO 19443-certified manufacturer
BORFLEX® designs and manufactures seals, elastomeric components and FLEXIBORE® plates for the nuclear industry: airlock seals, pool cofferdam seals, reactor door seals, protective bellows and wear parts for valves. The group is ISO 19443-certified and operates in Zones 1 to 4, the zone most exposed to radiation.

FLEXIBORE®: radiation protection through neutron absorption
FLEXIBORE® is a registered trademark of BORFLEX®, developed specifically for the absorption of thermal neutrons. Unlike generic filled rubber, its formula is proprietary and cannot be replicated as such by a competitor.
- Composition: 50 per cent by weight of B4C powder, evenly distributed
- The B10 contained in the material absorbs neutrons; the residual scattering is negligible
- Used in neutron spectrometry to reduce background noise
- High flexibility: adapts to complex shapes; can be bent to a small radius without breaking
- Easy to cut, black in colour

Critical applications
Waterproofing at the most critical points of the installation
The applications target the most critical sealing points in the plant, where a failure would bring a unit to a standstill:
- Seals for work chambers
- Swimming pool cofferdam joints
- Door seals between the reactor section and the living quarters
- Protective bellows

Industry compliance
ISO 19443 certification:
compliance required by the sector
Qualified supplier to the nuclear industry
BORFLEX® is certified to ISO 19443, the international quality management standard specific to suppliers in the nuclear supply chain. This certification attests to the documentary traceability and safety standards expected by clients and safety authorities prior to any supplier qualification.

Product capacity
Elastomer solutions approved for Zones 1 to 4
Our seals and elastomeric components meet the requirements of all four regulatory radiation exposure zones. This production capacity enables our customers to equip their facilities without any disruption to supply, including for maintenance work in controlled areas and even the shortest unit shutdown periods.
