Purchasing Manager (M/F) – (Switzerland) - Permanent Position

Borflex Rex SA specializes in the design and manufacture of technical elastomer parts for industrial applications. The company is located in Mendrisio (Italian-speaking Switzerland).

We are seeking a Purchasing Manager (M/F)
Position based in Mendrisio (Canton of Ticino – Italian-speaking Switzerland)

Main Responsibilities:

  • The Purchasing Manager oversees all site-wide purchasing activities—both production-related and non-production-related—for a monthly volume ranging from 400,000 to 600,000 CHF.
  • The manager's objectives will be to improve the site's purchasing performance and ensure a secure supply chain.
  • The position reports hierarchically to the Site Director and functionally to the Group Purchasing Director.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Define and implement the site’s procurement strategy in accordance with Group guidelines.
  • Manage all site procurement operations: raw materials, subcontracting, capital expenditures, and overhead costs.
  • Analyze supplier markets and identify new sourcing opportunities.
  • Negotiate commercial terms: price, lead times, quality, and payment terms.
  • Monitor contracts, manage the supplier roster, and mitigate supply risks.
  • Optimize costs and working capital by managing inventory, supplier lead times, and payment terms.
  • Manage the team.
  • Monitor procurement performance metrics and propose corresponding action plans.
  • Collaborate with production, planning, R&D, and logistics.
  • Develop purchasing synergies with the BORFLEX® Group and contribute to make-or-buy decisions.

Desired Profile:

  • Advanced degree in supply chain, business, or engineering, with a focus on industrial purchasing.
  • Proven experience in industrial and production procurement, ideally in an international setting.
  • Understanding of supply chain challenges, inventory management, working capital, and operational performance.
  • Proficiency with an ERP system
  • Ability to thrive in a team-oriented and multicultural environment.
  • Fluency in Italian and professional-level English are required

  • Manage all of the plant's procurement operations: raw materials, subcontracting, capital expenditures, and general expenses.
  • Analyze supplier markets and identify new sourcing opportunities.
  • Negotiate commercial terms: prices, delivery times, quality, and payment terms.
  • Monitor contracts, manage the supplier base, and mitigate procurement risks.
  • Optimize costs and working capital by managing inventory, supplier lead times, and payment terms.
  • Managing Your Team.
  • Monitor procurement performance indicators and propose corresponding action plans.
  • Work in close collaboration with production, planning, R&D, and logistics.
  • Develop purchasing synergies with the BORFLEX® Group and contribute to discussions on the "make or buy" decision.

Required profile:

  • Higher education in supply chain management, business, or engineering, with a specialization in industrial procurement.
  • Proven experience in industrial and manufacturing procurement, preferably in an international setting.
  • Understanding the dynamics related to the supply chain, inventory, working capital, and operational performance.
  • Proficiency with an ERP system
  • Ability to work in a corporate and multicultural environment.
  • Fluency in Italian and business-level English are required
